Lamborghini Murcielago

The Lamborghini Murcielago, styled by Luc Donckerwolke, was introduced in 2001.  The Murcielago is a 2 seat all wheel drive, mid-engined coupe.  It is an exceptional low sports car with an angular design and distinctive scissor doors.  Originally the Murcielago was powered by a Lamborghini 6.2 litre V12 developing 580 PS.
The Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster was introduced in 2004 and featured a manually attached soft roof.  The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 was unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show.  The model designation included the revised power output of 640 PS from the increased 6.5 litre engine.  The Murcielago LP640 also featured a minor exterior update with revised front and rear facias, changes to side air intakes, modified exhaust, suspension tuning and upgraded clutch for the 6 speed eGear automated transmission with launch control.  Interior seating was redesigned and dash updated.  At the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show the update of the Roadster to LP640 specification was announced.  The Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, with upgrades to increase the power output to 670 PS.  Other modifications included weight reductions through use of carbon fibre and lightweight exhaust.
The Lamborghini Murcielago production ran from 2001 to 2010 with a total of 4099 cars produced.
